Help a child go to the dentist! Supports the health of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds
In disadvantaged environments across Romania, children rarely or never visit the dentist. A recent study by the Romanian College of Dentists shows that 66.2% of children in rural areas face tooth decay and 12% of them have never been to the dentist. Due to limited financial resources, many parents cannot afford to cover the costs of dental consultations or treatments. Thus, children only go to the doctor when the pain becomes unbearable or when complications arise. Over time, this affects children's overall health, self-confidence, and even school performance.
In this context, the ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation, in partnership with Tiniuc Dental Clinic, has launched the campaign "Help a child to go to the dentist!". Our aim is to provide free dental services to children who cannot afford a dental consultation or treatment.
How can you get involved?
Make an appointment in June at Tiniuc Dental Clinic and pay for your consultation or other dental service. 50% of the amount you pay goes into a special fund, used exclusively to cover free treatment for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Therefore, each person who uses the clinic's services contributes directly to the oral health of a child who would otherwise not have access to dental care.
Book an appointment by calling 0747 932 751 or on the Facebook page - Tiniuc Dental Clinic.
If you don't need a consultation, donate online at the ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation website. Your donation will be fully used to provide free dental services to children.
The importance of early oral health
Oral health is an essential part of children's overall well-being. Untreated tooth decay is the most common dental condition among young people, and it can lead to issues affecting the whole organism. In Suceava, this problem is more pronounced in rural areas, where access to a dentist is limited and families' financial resources are low.
The consequences of untreated dental problems go beyond pain. The infections that can occur affect a child's ability to eat and assimilate the nutrients needed for healthy growth. Furthermore, chronic dental pain is associated with sleep problems and constant discomfort, which reduces concentration and school performance. Psychosocially, dental problems can lead to low self-esteem. Many of these children avoid smiling or socializing, which can affect social integration and emotional development.
Why is it important to get involved?
Community support is instrumental in the "Help a child go to the dentist!" campaign. This month, a visit to the clinic becomes an opportunity to contribute to the well-being of a child who lacks the resources to maintain good oral health.

A strong partnership
The collaboration between the ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation and Tiniuc Dental Clinic started last year with the first edition of the "Health in Motion" Educational Caravan. Dr. Iulian Tiniuc has been one of the most active partners of the 3 editions held so far, providing prevention and oral hygiene education to over 1000 children in Suceava County. These activities have strengthened our trust in Dr. Tiniuc, and now, through the "Help a child go to the dentist!" campaign, we are taking a step towards a practical level of medical intervention.
