A city moves forward when its local organizations know how to work together. The long-standing partnership between ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation and Rotary Club Suceava-Bucovina is a good example of that: two organizations that keep starting and backing community projects in Suceava, with a focus on healthcare, social support, new opportunities in education, and access to culture.

Over the years, the collaboration has shown what happens when logistics, funding, and people come together: the results last, and they reach the whole city and county, not just one event.

Standing Together When It Mattered: A History of Joint Action

The bond between ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation and Rotary Suceava grew stronger in the moments that mattered most for the community. During the coronavirus crisis in the county, the two organizations worked closely to support Sfântul Ioan cel Nou County Emergency Hospital, purchasing and donating a Draeger Savina 300 mechanical ventilator to the ICU, along with essential protective equipment.

That same willingness to step in carried over into humanitarian work at the border, where the two organizations provided logistical support, food, and basic-necessity packages to refugees from Ukraine. Rotary International later recognized this ongoing involvement with a formal letter of appreciation to ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation, acknowledging how seriously these community projects in Suceava were handled.

Renovating the “Ciprian Porumbescu” Art College in Suceava: A €180,000 Investment in Young Artists

The largest infrastructure project coordinated by ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation was the full renovation of the performance hall at “Ciprian Porumbescu” Art College in Suceava. Unusable and run-down for years, the space went through a complex rehabilitation process, designed together with German architect Peter Eickholt.

Rotary Club Suceava-Bucovina joined the effort by turning its annual Simfonii de Toamnă concert into a fundraising campaign for Suceava. Donations collected from the audience added to the more than €180,000 managed by ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation, and the school now has a performance space that meets genuinely high standards.

After the renovation, the college's performance hall became a modern venue with over 150 seats, ready for auditions, music recitals, and theater performances. Thanks to the new sound and lighting equipment, students finally have a real stage inside their own school, where they can rehearse and perform under proper conditions.

Simfonii de Toamnă Suceava: A Musical Tradition That Keeps Culture Within Reach

Every year, the “Simfonii de Toamnă” concert, organized by Rotary Club Suceava-Bucovina, draws thousands of people to the esplanade in the center of Suceava. Dedicated to classical music, the concert has become one of the region's most important cultural events, giving the audience a chance to hear major orchestras and soloists right in a public space.

At every edition of Simfonii de Toamnă, ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation is there on the esplanade, not just as a partner but with concrete actions for the community. Each year we award the Excellence in Education Prize to Suceava's most dedicated teachers, bring in volunteers who run open workshops for families, and help local young musicians perform on the same stage as established artists.

The Partnership Continues: New Educational and Cultural Projects for Suceava

The impact of these earlier initiatives shows how effective local partnerships can be. ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation and Rotary Suceava are continuing the collaboration with confidence into this year's edition of “Simfonii de Toamnă.”

Through this partnership, we aim to keep high-quality artistic performances free and open to the public, and to develop new educational projects in Suceava that give young people the resources they need to grow their talents at home.
