On Thursday, December 11, the “Ciprian Porumbescu” College of Arts in Suceava marked a significant milestone for the local cultural scene: the official reopening of the “Ion Carp Fluerici” auditorium, which had undergone a full modernization project coordinated by the ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation.

Completed just one year after the launch of the fundraising campaign in December 2024, the project brings back into the cultural circuit a space essential to artistic education, now prepared to host activities at professional standards. The total investment amounted to approximately €180,000 and was made possible through the involvement of the ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation, its partners, and local community donors.

A Historic Venue, Ready for the Future

With a history spanning over 40 years, the “Ion Carp Fluerici” auditorium has hosted numerous cultural events and welcomed thousands of spectators over time. Natural wear and tear, combined with the need for a space aligned with contemporary standards in artistic education, necessitated a comprehensive modernization.

The renovation works began in June 2025, during the summer break, to minimize disruptions to the academic schedule. Over the following six months, the auditorium underwent a complete refurbishment, from flooring and interior finishes to electrical, climate control, and sound systems. Today, the venue offers 99 seats and is considered the most modern performance hall in the city of Suceava.

A Modern, Functional Space Designed for Performance

The modernization process addressed every essential component of a high-performance cultural venue. The flooring was fully replaced, with the support of EGGER, ensuring stability and durability. The walls were refinished and prepared for acoustic integration, while electrical and climate systems were reconfigured to support intensive use.

A major focus was placed on acoustics, as the volumetric ceiling and sound-absorbing panels effectively reduce reverberation, providing clear sound that is crucial for concerts and performances. The lighting system was also upgraded to ensure optimal visibility and a suitable visual impact for both performers and the audience.

Audience comfort was enhanced through the installation of new, performance-hall-appropriate seating, while the air treatment system maintains optimal indoor conditions by continuously regulating temperature and humidity.

A Project Built Together with the Community

The auditorium’s modernization was made possible through close collaboration between the foundation, local partners, and supporters. Key contributors include ASSIST Software, Rotary Club Suceava-Bucovina, Novaoptic Eye Clinic, EGGER Romania, SERCOM Electric, designer Cezar Ciornei (Design Avenue), engineer Peter Eickholt, and painter Virgiliu Parghel.

During the inauguration event, Andrei Cioban, President of the ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation, emphasized the importance of local partnerships in developing long-term projects with meaningful impact in education and culture. The school’s leadership highlighted that the new auditorium now offers conditions comparable to those of similar institutions across Europe, thereby strengthening the role of the “Ciprian Porumbescu” College of Arts within Suceava’s cultural landscape.

Opening Marked by a Christmas Charity Concert

The official opening took place during the 2025 Christmas Charity Concert, an annual event organized by the ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation. The evening brought together representatives from the cultural and academic sectors, foundation partners, NGOs, media, students, and members of the local community.

The artistic program was performed by students and teachers of the College of Arts, featuring instrumental, choral, and solo performances. For the students, it was their first opportunity to experience the auditorium in its new form, while the audience could directly appreciate the enhanced acoustics, lighting, and modern technical infrastructure.

“Today, the project is complete. And the fact that we are standing in the very space we modernized together is the strongest proof that donations truly turn into tangible results,” said Cătălina Micliuc, Vice President of the ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation.

Culture in Support of Solidarity

Beyond its cultural significance, the charity concert also served an important social purpose. Funds raised during the event will support the organization of a Respiro Camp for mothers and children with special needs, courtesy of the FARA Foundation. The camp will offer mothers several days of rest and reconnection, while children will benefit from tailored activities under the constant supervision of therapists and volunteers.

The program will include 30 participants: 10 mothers, 10 children, 5 therapists, and 5 volunteers. Novaoptic Eye Clinic and Rockna joined the initiative as sponsors, responding positively to the fundraising appeal. Donations can still be made at:
