Have you ever thought about how important education really is for society? Or how much it shapes young people’s futures and communities as a whole?
At the ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation, we think about this a lot. Education has such a profound impact, and is the central focus of what we do.

This October, in honor of World Education Day on October 5th, we took our commitment to a whole new level by packing the month with education-related events! From supporting students and celebrating teachers to hosting workshops that bring families together, we aimed to spread the message that learning and growth are for everyone - kids, teens, adults, and educators alike. Here’s a look at what we got up to this month as we worked to make education accessible, inspiring, and supportive for all.

For us, education isn’t just a cause; it’s at the heart of everything we believe in. Through events, partnerships, and outreach, we aim to make learning accessible and empowering for everyone.

Supporting teens and their families

On October 7th, we teamed up with TehnoWorld Generation and EDU Max to put on “Open Windows for Education”, an event for teenagers and their parents. This gathering was special - a space where experienced educators shared insights into how education can drive us forward. The speakers didn’t just talk about school; they spoke about dreams, discipline, family support, and how we never really stop learning, no matter our age.
The energy was fantastic, and the feedback? Even better. Parents and teens left inspired, seeing education as a journey they’re all on together. And for us, that’s exactly the kind of positive impact we aim to create.

Encouraging young talent on a global stage

One of our highlights this month was supporting a group of exceptional young Romanian students who competed at the International Junior Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad in Nepal. These kids worked so hard and earned silver and bronze medals, representing Romania with pride. To make their journey possible, we covered their travel costs so they could focus on what they do best—exploring their passion for science.

Their coach, Professor Dr. Petru Crăciun, whom we awarded the Excellence in Education prize last September, has been a guiding light for his students. We are proud to support these young minds who are showing the world just what a solid education can achieve.

Lifelong learning for educators

For the second year in a row, the ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation supported the Early Education Conference "First 7," organized by EDU Max, which marked its fourth edition in Suceava on November 2nd. This conference provided educators with a valuable forum to explore new methods in early childhood learning. The central theme, "How to Respond to Each Child’s Needs in Early Education," emphasized inclusion and personalization, highlighting the importance of a learning environment where every child feels valued.

One of the event's standout sessions was led by Ruth Lue-Quee, founder of My Mummy Teacher, who spoke about the critical role of play in children’s education. In her session, "Permission to Play! Using Play to Engage Learners and Manage Behavior," Ruth encouraged us to connect with children on their level, offering them the space to explore and learn through play.

Behavior management expert Meic Griffiths also shared valuable techniques for addressing children’s complex behaviors, stressing empathy and a consistent approach. Through patience and open communication, Meic showed us how to help children express their emotions healthily, creating a stable educational environment

Valentina Secară, founder of the Early Education Conference, wrapped up the day with an inspiring session on the role of educators in creating a safe emotional environment. She reminded us that every child needs a balanced space where they feel encouraged to discover their potential and grow harmoniously.

Join us in making a difference!

This October was packed with inspiring moments, from celebrating students’ successes on the global stage to supporting educators and bringing families closer to their educational goals. At the ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation, we’re committed to making education accessible, impactful, and lifelong. But we can’t do it alone - our community plays a huge role in making these programs possible.

If our mission resonates with you, we’d love for you to join us. Whether it’s attending an event, volunteering, or donating to support future initiatives, every bit of support makes a difference. Together, we can keep creating opportunities for growth, one student, teacher, and family at a time.
