A new outdoor learning space has been set up at the “1-2-3” Extended Program Kindergarten in Suceava, with support from the ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation. Our donation includes seven child-friendly tables with benches and umbrellas that turn the outdoor area into an open-air classroom. Delivered during the Green Week, the furniture marked the beginning of a series of outdoor activities that took children out of their classrooms and brought them closer to nature.

To celebrate this donation, our volunteers joined the children and teachers for a themed event called “The Spring Festival.” Enjoying the beautiful weather, the kids inaugurated the new space by creating artwork using flowers, seeds, and watercolors. It was a refreshing moment for us to witness their creativity and draw inspiration from their playful mood.

From early education to excellence

The Green Week is a Romanian national program designed to promote ecological education through age-appropriate, hands-on activities. Especially during the kindergarten years, learning through exploration, play, and discovery is indispensable. Direct contact with the environment helps develop sensory awareness, instill responsibility toward nature, and stimulate curiosity. By creating a dedicated outdoor learning space, we’re offering an ideal setting for engaging, healthy, and meaningful lessons.

Over the past three years, our campaigns have focused primarily on supporting education and improving children’s access to the resources they need. We direct our efforts toward children from underprivileged backgrounds who often lack the opportunities available in larger urban centers, as well as toward city-based youth affected by disparities in funding and facilities. Our mission is to support excellence in education, recognizing that every big step begins with a small one and a bit of support.

Education is a shared responsibility

The support provided by the ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation is an investment in local education, one that creates long-term value for the community. Creating outdoor learning spaces opens new pedagogical perspectives and provides a healthy, creative environment for development. These initiatives encourage collaboration between institutions and non-profits to drive real impact.
