One of the main areas that Fundația Umanitară ASSIST focuses on is supporting and encouraging performance and the development of the local community and its members. We take great pride in their success, and we get involved in their evolution whenever an opportunity arises.

Adrian Hânțăscu is one of those people that through hard work and perseverance has become an example for all the young people that want to thrive in their career. He is a ”Colegiul de Informatică Spiru Haret” student, in Suceava, with outstanding results in robotics, a passion that both him and his brother share. Adrian and his brother are members of ”AutoVortex” - the National Robotics Team, his brother being one of the team’s mentors.

All 21 of Adrian’s teammates are extraordinary, gifted students, most of them living in Bucharest, Romania’s capital. Therefore, all the meetings of the team take place there, which means that Adrian must commute every week between Suceava and Bucharest to be able to prepare with the other members of the team.

Although he has been part of the team for only a year and a half, Adrian and his teammates have managed to win many prizes at several national and international competitions. They started out the year strong taking home prizes in South Korea, India –at the International Robotics Championship, where they won the first prize – and in Bucharest –at the National Championship

Following these achievements Adrian and AutoVortex qualified for and successfully represented our country across the ocean, at the World Robotics Championship in the USA. The purpose of this competition is to inspire and entice younger generations towards science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The championship took place in April, in Houston, Texas, gathering an impressive number of 190 teams from all over the world. Romania’s team stood out again taking home two titles: the “Finalist Alliance Award” and the “Control Award”.

In order to make it possible for Adrian to attend this prestigious event, Fundația Umanitară ASSIST donated 2500 euros to Adrian to help with the travel expenses

In June, AutoVortex participated in a new robotics competition in the United States. This new challenge was held in Washington, and out of the 40 teams, ours got 6th place.

These outstanding results stand as proof of the many hours of devotion, hard work and passion for programming of these young people. We are proud to be able to support Adrian on his journey towards success and we would like to thank him for his work and determination.
