ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation – Main Partner of the 2025 “Matei Vișniec Theatre Days” International Festival
Between May 30 and June 7, 2025, Suceava once again became the heart of Eastern European theatre, hosting the 9th edition of the “Matei Vișniec Theatre Days” International Festival. The festival offered a powerful week of culture, emotion, and artistic dialogue with over 60 performances by theatre companies from Romania, France, Moldova, Germany, Poland, and Spain.
As the festival’s leading partner, the ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation played an active role in its success, supporting logistics, promotion, and dedicated sponsorships in line with its mission to foster education, culture, and community development.
A Backed Performance, A Resounding Success: “Queen of the Night”
One of the most well-received productions of the festival was “Queen of the Night”, staged by the “Fani Tardini” Dramatic Theatre of Galați. A heartfelt Romanian comedy featuring 17 unforgettable characters, the play served up generous helpings of laughter and nostalgia.
The ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation provided special support for this performance. A whole house and extended applause confirmed the Suceava audience’s appreciation for high-quality, emotionally resonant theatre.
Art Meets Social Responsibility – A Cause for the Future
Beyond the cultural dimension, the Foundation also used the festival as a platform for a meaningful local cause: raising funds to renovate the “Ciprian Porumbescu” College of Arts in Suceava auditorium.
Well-known actor Marius Manole, who attended the festival, joined the cause and voiced his support through a heartfelt message on social media. His post was soon amplified by renowned actresses Maia Morgenstern and Oana Pellea, who also encouraged the public to support the renovation initiative.
A Festival That Brings Europe Closer
With a rich mix of classic and contemporary productions, the festival showcased theatre’s unique power to bring people together, spark dialogue, and invite reflection. For one inspiring week, Suceava was more than just a host; it became a hub of European cultural convergence.
